The Rules of Golf

• The United States Golf Association, in conjunction with the R&A in St. Andrews, Scotland, writes, interprets and maintains the Rules of Golf to guard the tradition and integrity of the game.
• Those organizations are the joint authors and owners of The Rules of Golf, and Decisions on The Rules of Golf (which are particular interpretations of individual rules)
• Through an agreement between R&A, the Rules jurisdiction of the USGA covers only the United States, it's possessions and Mexico.
• The current Rules of Golf have been revised as of January 1st, 2008 and are effective for the 2009 season as well.
